 A biography on Albert Bierstadt

Born in the year 1830 in Solingen, Germany, Albert Bierstadt was counted among the older generation of American romantic landscape painters. Later, he got shifted to New Bedford in Massachusetts. From the age of 21, he wanted to be a painter and dedicated himself to his dream. In the year 1853, he returned to Germany to complete his study in Dusseldorf for painting. After completing his study, he returned to America in 1857 and joined an overland survey.  We have a full range of Oil Paintings  of this famous Artist made by our professional artists.

By this, he got a chance of traveling across the country, and in between the routes, he clicked countless pictures and drew sketches, starting from the dramatic rock formations to majestic mountain-view. In 1857 December, one of his works was bought by the Boston Athenaeum, which was the major turning point of his career.

Albert Bierstadt had a love for mountains, and he painted many pictures of mountains that are still counted as great artwork. Later he visited New Hampshire with his brother to learn more about the new medium of photography. He spent considerable time in the Conway house & Glen house for work on Emerald pool, known to be one of his finest works.

In his golden days:

He exhibited from 1859 to 1864 at Boston Athenaeum, from 1861 to 1879 at the Brooklyn Art Association. Similarly, some of his paintings were also showcased at the Boston Art Club from 1873 to 1880. He was a century association member from 1862 to 1902. Bierstadt painted many romanticized landscapes with an abundance of detail that captured the imagination and innovation of the 19th century. His paintings were highly popularized and considered best in the American art market. His paintings were bought at the record price in America, and after that, he gained immense success and recognition.

After all these things, he became internationally renowned for his beautiful and detailed artworks. He painted enormous paintings and sold them at a high price which made him popular soon, and his growth reaches tremendous heights.

After his married life:

In the year 1867, he married Rosalie, and they went to meet with Queen Victoria. His wife needed to live in a warm climate due to his health reasons. Therefore the couple lived in the Nassau and began to paint the "Tropics of Nassau."

He died suddenly in the year 1902 but still, people didn't forget his work until 1960. His painting began to popularize worldwide. There were no such paintings of Albert Bierstadt, which was not considered as in the popular category. He was counted among the prolific artist and has completed almost 500 paintings during his entire career. The original painting of Albert Bierstadt occasionally comes up for sale at a huge price.

 Legacy of Albert Bierstadt:

Bierstadt had a keen interest in painting mountain landscapes; therefore, Mount Bierstadt in Colorado is named in honor of his legacy. There is another mountain in Colorado that was named for the memory of his wife and named Mount Rosa that was later renamed Mount Evans.

Conclusion:

He was later entitled as America's most successful painter. But in the 1880s, a new style of painting developed that made his work old-fashioned. His works were considered outdated, but in the 1940s, they got back the popularity, and people admired his work. The people greatly admire his earlier works and sketches, and soon, they gained the position they deserve. He was known as the most popular & finest artist who painted with his heart!
